12 killed in rain-related incidents across UP; schools shut in Noida, Gurugram: Latest developments | India News

NEW DELHI: At least 12 people were killed rain-related incidents across four districts of Uttar Pradesh since Wednesday night. Parts of Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region (NCR), including Gautam Buddh Nagar, saw heavy rain on Thursday. Rain continues to hit Delhi, leading to flooding and affect traffic movement in some areas of the city. Flooding is also reported in some parts of Gurugram.
Here are the latest developments:

  1. Amid heavy rain, all private and government schools from grades 1 to 8 in Noida and Gurugram are closed on Friday.
  2. The Gurugram Disaster Management Authority recommends that all corporate offices and private facilities in the county instruct employees to work from home (WFH) to avoid traffic congestion.
  3. Nishant Kumar Yadav, deputy commissioner, Gurugram tweeted, “Gurugram District Government has issued advice to all corporate companies, private organizations to allow their employees to work from home in the public interest. plus greater”.
  4. Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies with moderate rain and showers in most parts of Delhi. It gave a ‘yellow warning’.
  5. In the past 24 hours, the city has received 72mm of rain while the maximum temperature recorded was 28 degrees Celsius, seven places below the normal level for the season.
