125 Firefighters Fight Massive Fire in London Warehouse

A massive fire has engulfed three two-story warehouses in east London. Based on Metro.uk, 20 fire engineers and 125 firefighters were deployed to Downtown Hainault, in Ilford, where the fire quickly spread throughout the building. As firefighters were tackling the blaze, locals were told to close doors and windows due to thick smoke.

Roads around Ilford are now closed because of the massive fire. According to reports, the London Fire Brigade was called shortly after 9pm on Wednesday. London Fire Brigade tweeted, “20 fire engines and approximately 125 firefighters are at the scene of the Fowler Road fire in #Ilford. Firefighters are tackling a fire where a series of warehouses are landing . More info to follow.”

The cause of the fire is still unknown. 25 fire engineers were dispatched to the scene last night along with crews from stations such as Romford, Dagenham, Ilford and Woodford, Metro reported.

Redbridge Police announced that Romford Road, New North Road and Fowler Road were all closed. It tweeted: “We are supporting our colleagues from @LondonFire as they respond to a major fire in Fowler Road, Ilford. Local residents are advised to avoid the area and keep their windows closed. due to smoke. Roads are closed including on Romford Road, New North Road and Fowler Road.”

Wes Streeting, the region’s MP took to Twitter to thank emergency services officials, “Many thanks to the London Fire Brigade for their response to the fire at the Hainault industrial estate. I hope that no one. injured and everyone is safe.”
