Race 1. (12:20) Schweppes (Bm72) 1800m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

2 Secret Glamour (Bet Now: $6.50) is a progressive mare for the Maher/Eustace camp that has good upside compared to most. Narrow second fresh on Bendigo Cup before going to the midweeks at Sandown where she was put into a lovely spot by Johnny Allen and once he pushed the button the mare, it was race over. Proven at 2000m+, so 1800m here is fine and is hard to beat.

Danger

4 Kazalark (Bet Now: $6.00) is heading in the right direction for Chris Waller and should eat up a rise in trip. Dominant maiden win over 1500m at Hawkesbury two back before going to the Spring Stakes at Newcastle and warmed to the task nicely late when second to Pierosa. Like him up in trip and does find a very winnable race.

Long Shot

9 Kovalica (Bet Now: $3.60) is a line finder and 1800m should be ideal. Last two starts/wins have come at the mile, the latest coming last Wednesday at Warwick Farm where the tight track wasn’t to his liking but he balanced up late in the straight and launched late to win. He’ll love the extra furlong and will be strong at the end.

Race 2. (12:55) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1500m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

4 The Dramatist (Bet Now: $6.00) deserves another chance for Rod Northam. Forget he went around in the Hgihway three weeks back at Newcastle. Just got into a horrible spot and Jones couldn’t get clear at any stage, so just forget he went around. It was pretty much a barrier trial. Off the start prior, he’d go close against these.

Danger

11 Danzadel (Bet Now: $15.00) has an awful racing pattern but she has the engine under the hood to give this a shake. Ran a fortnight back in the Tap N Run Highway at Kembla where she got a mile out of her ground and was very good late in the piece when fifth, beaten three lengths. Dangerous if she’s within range on the turn.

Long Shot

10 Dark Satin (Bet Now: $41.00) is sneaky flying for James Ponsonby and I think third up, getting to 1500m, she appeals big time as an each way bet. She’s had two runs back from a break, closing off with real purpose behind To The Nines here before going to Kembla where she again got back in the run and was good late again, this time behind Tap N Run. Love the extra 100m for her and if she can settle closer in the run, she’ll take beating.

Race 3. (13:30) Acy Securities (Bm72) 1200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

2 Garza Bianca (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) looks a smart animal for the Maher/Eustace camp. Just found the 1400m a bridge too far at Caulfield before being given a mini break and running over 1200m at Cranbourne where he produced a very sharp turn of foot to put them away with style, them including Greece, a filly I have a lot of time for. That reads very well for this.

Danger

7 Tashi (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) looks to have returned in pretty good order. Resumed at this track/distance at the midweeks where she closed her race off with purpose but couldn’t quite get there when second to Operative. She seemingly has good upside to come and stable is going well, so she commands respect.

Long Shot

3 Operative (Bet Now:
$SP.00
), I think, is putting it together. 2/2 this time in, but I will say both wins have seen him well and truly blessed in run. Won the maiden fresh at Newcastle before an impressive winner here at the midweeks under J Mac. There is more depth to this line up but hard to knock a horse that has won two on the bounce.

Race 4. (14:05) Tab (Bm78) 1350m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

7 Frumos… (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) she reminds me of stablemate April Rain. Promises the world but didn’t quite deliver. But, the difference being Frumos, I think, will deliver. She had a fabulous first prep, which ended with a second to Hope In Your Heart, who of course went on to be a multiple Stakes class winner and ran so well in the Golden Eagle. That is A1 form and her two trials have been simply sensational.

Danger

6 Thalassophile (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a Chris Waller trained mare that is second up. She resumed three weeks back at Newcastle where she wasn’t suited by the stop/start race shape but she picked up late and was good to the line when third to Ten Bells. Reckon she wants further rather than back in trip but she has the talent to measure up.

Long Shot

10 Bowery Breeze (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a hard mare to catch but it’s hard to ignore her first up effort, which came at Kembla. She got back in the run and came widest on the turn but launched late and looked the winner but condition just gave way late when fourth to Starboreta. If she can settle clsoer in the run, she’ll be dangerous.

Race 5. (14:40) Midway (Bm72) 1300m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

Happy to speck 6 Dalaalaat (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) each way. He resumed on Gong Day from two weeks ago at Kembla when three and four wide for the trip and just couldn’t finish the race off behind Cuban Royale, but was only beaten three lengths. Maps to get a much better run in transit and drops a fair way in depth.

Danger

4 Deep Snow (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) should take beating here for Angela Davies. Narrow second at Randwick on Cup Day before going to the midweeks at this track/distance when given a peach by J Mac and he put them away for a strong and dominant win. This looks a very winnable Midway and stable is very astute when coming to town.

Long Shot

5 New Tycoon (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has a good second up record and his best is good enough to threaten. Resumed several weeks ago at this track/distance in a Midway when back in the run in a race not really set up for him to finish, so forgive and forget. More genuine tempo here, he can run a much improved race.

Race 6. (15:20) Fujitsu General (Bm78) 2000m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

I’m with 4 Shibli (Bet Now:
$SP.00
). He’s sneaky flying for Chris Waller I feel. McEvoy just went too early on him two back at Flemington before finding a bog at Ballarat last time and couldn’t pick his feet up. Back on top of the ground and mapping to do no work, I think he can run a much improved race.

Danger

2 Smirk (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has the 2000m run under the belt, which should hold her in good stead. She ran over the trip at Kembla last time and was a tad one paced in the straight but wasn’t totally disgraced behind Shameonus. Has that under the belt now and last time she had that set up, she ran a slashing fourth in the Queensland Oaks.

Long Shot

6 King Of Clubs (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is an interesting runner. GaiBott trained import that is having his second Australian prep. Had two runs in the first prpe, doing more than enough in the first run before pulling up 2/5 lame next start and was spelled. First two trials to get ready, he looked like a donkey, but the latest trial, they rode him with a sit and he showed an okay turn of foot. To me, he looks a Blinkers horse, but his UK form is good enough. Watch the market.

Race 7. (16:00) Ranvet (Bm78) 1200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

If the inside gate is used to advantage, 6 Soami (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a gamble here for sure. He was good fresh here behind the in form Fox Fighter before going to Kembla where he got back to near last from the wide gate and rocketed to the line behind Cuban Royale, clocking good late splits. Hard to beat at odds if he can settle closer in the run.

Danger

5 Devil’s Throat (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) hasn’t done much wrong this time in for Team Snowden. Close up fourth to The Poacher two back before going to Rosehill where he tried his guts out but was no match late for track specialist Fox Fighter. Consistent and should be around the mark again.

Long Shot

1 Rainbow Connection (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a Matty Dunn trained gelding that is absolutely flying this time in. Resumed with a strong win over 1000m at Eagle Farm before going to Kembla where he seemed to have every chance and tried hard. Just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow third to Cuban Royale. Hard fit now, he’s hard to beat.

Race 8. (16:40) Furphy (Bm88) 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

The gate looks awful, but I have to side with 8 Mr Dependable (Bet Now: $14.00), who resumes for GaiBott. He had two runs in the early part of the Winter and didn’t fire a shot each time, so was sent straight for a spell. Good hitout in the first trial, then the second trial saw him ridden with a sit and he found the line really nicely under a hold. With luck from the gate, I think he only runs well.

Danger

If it is up/in conditions, then 5 Titanium Power (Bet Now: $8.50) will prove very hard to run down. Narrow winner at Randwick two back before going to Newcastle where he got outside stablemate Coal Crusher but couldn’t fire in the straight and was plain. Reckon if he gets on speed and does no work to get there, he is good enough to take this out.

Long Shot

9 Impasse (Bet Now: $26.00) looks much better suited in a race like this compared to The Big Dance where he was clearly outclassed on paper but he actually didn’t run a bad race in defeat after getting a mile out of his ground. Getting on in years, but still maintains a healthy zest for racing.

Race 9. (17:20) Kia Ora Prague (Bm88) 1100m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

It’s hard to get away from 10 I Am Me (Bet Now: $1.90). Yes, she had the pattern in her corner a few weeks ago at Rosehill but even allowing for that, she was dominant and gave her rivals a spanking in an impressive return. Destined for better races than this, and I think she’ll be winning again before going to blacktype.

Danger

4 Lord Olympus (Bet Now: $17.00) is a fascinating runner. Formerly with Mark Newnham, he now finds himself with Annabel Neasham. I find it rare that a Newnham horse improves when leaving his stable, but this guy looks to be flying off the trials. He has cruised each time under a hold and seemingly had plenty up the sleeve. Think he’s ready to go and can certainly take this out.

Long Shot

6 On The Lead (Bet Now: $12.00) is knocking on the door to win. Can make a case to say that with clear air, he goes close in The Warra last time out instead of a close up fourth to Athelric in a blanket finish. He’s a pure dry track horse, so he gets conditions to suit and does have good change up speed.

Race 10. (17:55) Merry Christmas Members (Bm72) 1500m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

3 Estadio Mestalla (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) looks Stakes class and this should be an ideal stepping stone. Australian debut came at this track/distance at the midweeks when getting a beaut sit in the run and what I liked is that when he neded to take gaps and go through his gears, he did and won like a good horse. Staying at 1500m is the knock but I think he’ll be too good.

Danger

13 Cloudland (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a horse I have plenty of time for. 3/3 to start his career for Kris Lees. He hasn’t quite put gaps on the fields he has beat, but he is a line finder and does what is required. Might be a thinker but beware the unbeaten horse and given his record, he deserves a crack in town.

Long Shot

2 Touristic (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a very, very interesting runner. Former French galloper that makes his Australian debut for Team Snowden and really, he could have panels on this lot. The form line that stands out is two back when far from disgraced behind Al Hakeem, who has Deauville Legend/El Bodegon form, which is A1. Loved his recent trial at Randwick…the queries are the trip, too short perhaps? And the other query being Tommy choosing to ride Newley Wed and not this guy. But watch the market.
