7.8 magnitude earthquake shakes central Turkey

ANKARA, Turkey — A magnitude 7.8 earthquake shook central Turkey early Monday morning and was followed by another strong earthquake. Information on potential damage or casualties is not immediately available.
The epicenter of the earthquake was about 33 kilometers (20 mi) from Gaziantep, a major city and provincial capital. It is about 26 kilometers (16 miles) from the town of Nurdagi.
