(Reuters) – A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Gulf of California region in Mexico on Friday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said, with no damage reported from the authorities.

The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles), the USGS said.

Earlier, Europe’s Mediterranean Seismological Center had rated the quake at 5.8 magnitude.

Mexico’s National Civil Protection Agency said on Twitter that no damage had been reported and there was no danger of a tsunami following the quake.
