Here’s what their advocates and promoters had to say:
First of all, I want to thank God, Robert Diaz and the Golden Boy team for getting me to the main event,” said Alexis Rocha. “The fight was presented to him last November, and we did not fight. It’s not my fault. Kerobyan is your only notable victory. Remember Blair. You are acting like a clown here and there. Just as there are clowns in the circus, there are also lions and tigers. Remember this face. You are a war from the comment booth. You will inform about my fight later. “
Blair Cobbs said: “No fight was offered to me last November. “Am I the kind of person who refuses to fight? Does Blair the Flair look like he’s going crazy… I don’t think so. I want that fight in November, but we can’t happen. Finally, we made it happen. I did not hesitate to sign this contract. Then we waited for Alexis to sign. I’m looking for bigger and better battles. McKinson, I have nothing but respect. He and I are cut from the same fabric. The weaker ones are fighting the great skirmishes, the warriors undefeated in the fire. I am very good at it. When I put these young warriors in the fire with me, they don’t seem the same. He’s only been tested once against Brad Solomon, and he almost lost. What happened when Solomon fought me with over two months of training. We finished the work in the fifth round”.
“I spoke to him (Vergil Ortiz),” said Oscar De La Hoya, President and CEO of Golden Boy. “He has returned home, and he feels better. Damn it because it happened so close to the war. He is ready and looking forward to it. Everything happens, but we have to expect an amazing main event. I wanted to take a moment and thank Cobbs and Rocha for their push and willingness to fight in the main event. It was an interesting battle. We have a lot of young prospects who we are looking at are going to the next level. That’s why this whole card is super fun. Especially the main event, which is fireworks. They’re under threat a lot, but they’re ready for the next level.”
“Everybody expects this fight to be interesting,” said Bernard Hopkins, Hall of Famer and Golden Boy Partner. “For me, they mix quite evenly. This is a dangerous fight for both boys. I would like to credit Robert Diaz, our matchmaker, for going over and making this card work. ”
Michael Mckinson said: “What a dream come true. “Unfortunately, some things happened on the card, but I am grateful that I am still fighting. The showdown continued. I have so many people to thank for keeping me on the card. I wish Ortiz a speedy recovery. He’s a young man, and health is everything. My full attention goes to Jesus Perez. I had two choices. Took the last three to four months of my US debut to go home and not have to fight. I am a warrior. I’m here, and I want to debut in the US. Hopefully, I can win some American supporters and impress everyone on Saturday night.”
“I feel great,” said Bektemir Melikuziev. “I am feeling confident. I’m working out in the gym, ready to go. What happened? [with Rosado] I made a mistake and paid the price. I’m a bit greedy. It’s boxing, and one punch can change everything. I’m confident I’ll get that rematch even if I have to be world champion first. I want to prove it a mistake. I’m on another level. Congratulations Rosado. I’m looking forward to the fight. Nothing has changed for me. I will still bring all the belts at 168 for Golden Boy.”
Evan Sanchez said: “Fans should expect a bit of everything, boxing, attack and defence. “I can adjust it to fit any fighter. It will be a great fight. I feel good. I had to leave the gym for a while because of covid and a shoulder injury. It’s an honor to be here. ”
