If you want smart temperature control without spending a lot of money, you can check out Amazon Smart Thermostat, currently on sale for $42. That’s 30% off the retail price of $60, matching an all-time low. Since the thermostat is much cheaper than its big-name competitors even if it’s not discounted, this Black Friday deal gives you an unparalleled return.
Amazon’s thermostat lacks some bells and whistles. For example, it doesn’t have a built-in microphone and speaker, or supports remote sensing. It also doesn’t work with Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit. But if Alexa is already your smart home platform of choice, Amazon’s thermostat is an inexpensive option that works with most existing 24V HVAC (most common for residential systems).
For an entry-level product, it offers a surprisingly sleek and modern design. Its rounded rectangular shape is similar to ecobee products, while its color scheme mirrors those of Google Nest products.
Amazon partnered with Honeywell Home for the thermostat, which lets you create routines, set the temperature manually (including the remote), or let Alexa handle it for you. Plus, it’s Energy Star certified, and Amazon claims it can save you around $50 on your electricity bill each year. After signing up, Amazon will even send you an email with details on available discounts from local energy suppliers.
Installation should be easy, but Amazon includes a “compatibility check” guide on the product page that walks you through various details to make sure it’ll work. An important point to check is whether your current thermostat setup has C-Wire. If not, you’ll want to choose bunch of Includes an adapter.
