Amid a nationwide formula shortage, “Pro-Life” Republicans suggest letting migrant infants starve

The United States is in the midst of a major formula crisis affecting some of the most vulnerable populations: infants. A perfect storm of many elements — related to the pandemic supply chain delay; government bureaucracy; the squeeze is just one several companies organization in the formula milk market; the Closed of one of the largest formula factories in the country, following the recall of contaminated batches and the death of two children—Which has led to a terrifying reality for parents desperate and scrambling for food for their children. People who have the time — and many who don’t — are driving long distances just to find empty shelves. Private sellers are said to be price gouging, charging customers double or triple the normal amount. Unable to find what they needed, some parents were forced to ration recipe as they search, often in vain, for more. A woman speak The New York Times Recently she found herself “panic, crying on the floor,” telling her husband, “Dude, I can’t feed our baby, I don’t know what to do.” The solution from the Republicans, many of whom profess to be pro-life? Letting infants of undocumented parents starve to death. Or, at the very least, use the situation to fool immigrants and score the cheapest political points.

On Wednesday, representatives of Florida Kat Cammack tweeted A pair of photos, writing, “First photo is from this morning at the Ursula Processing Center at the US border. Shelves and pallets containing infant formula. The second is from a shelf right at home. Scarcity formula. This is what America ultimately looks like.” Then on Facebook, she declare to obtain photos from a “border patrol agent” who had been working for “30 years”. In the video, the congresswoman generously admits that while all children deserve to eat, it is not America’s duty to feed children.

“It’s not the kids fault at all,” Commack speak her followers. “But what angers me is that this is another example of the ‘Last America’ agenda that the Biden administration continues to uphold.” Cammack claim according to Fox News. She is the chair of House’s Pro-Life Caucus Conference and of course nervous on the news that the Supreme Court is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade.

A day after Cammack’s suggestion that migrant children locked up by the US government be forced to starve, the governor of Texas Greg Abbott jump on the bandwagon, release a Joint statement to the National Border Patrol Council: “While moms and dads stare at empty grocery store shelves, the Biden administration is happy to provide baby formula to illegal immigrants. law across our southern border…. Our children deserve a president who puts their needs and survival first — not one who provides essential supplies to illegal immigrants before the very people he proclaimed himself to be. oath of service. Like Cammack, Abbott wants people to believe he’s a “pro-life” and signed a bill last September ban abortion after six weeks, leading to an increase in imitation laws across the country.

Also on Thursday, Texas congressman Troy Nehls tweeted, “Baby formula should reach Americans before being bought out of wedlock.” (Can you guess where Nehls is?) stand for abortion.) And we’re sure you’ll be completely shocked to learn that Fox News also believes that migrant children should be starved to death. As the matter of the media’ Matt Gertz Note, a small collection of comments from internet stars over the past two days including: “Why are we feeding American babies illegally?” (Jesse Watters); “These are not people who respect our borders, our laws and our sovereignty. Why don’t all the pallets reach American families first? ” (Sean Hannity); and “Once they get here, the Biden administration will provide them with a food supply that you can’t afford. Those would include baby formula…. Do you wonder how many of these will have to take again? So humiliating”(Tucker Carlson). Fox, of course, was a main voice in the anti-deformation movement.

As The Washington Post‘S Glenn Kessler NoteLiterally, federal law requires the government to provide food — as well as other basic human rights — to the people it detains. But that is in fact just one setback for Republicans in their long quest to exterminate people who weren’t born here. Like Jezebel’s Caitlin Cruz Written on Thursday: “Immigrants and immigrants of all ages are perfectionists. First, they take their jobs; now they want to take food out of babies’ mouths, and at the same time force pregnant women to full term. The hypocrisy is so dense that I want to strangle it. “
