Andrew Tate and his brother detained in Romania

controversial internet personality Andrew Tate and his brother were detained in Romania on Thursday, according to their defense attorney.

Authorities in Romania said police served search warrants at five homes and arrested four suspects, including two Britons and two Romanians, as part of an investigation into human trafficking and Organized rape. They did not name any of those detained.

An attorney for Andrew and Tristan Tate told CNN that the brothers are expected to appear in court late Friday. He insisted that Andrew Tate was not arrested. “He was not arrested. He was detained for 24 hours,” said lawyer Eugen Vidineac.

Attorneys did not discuss any of the allegations.

Romania’s Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has released a edited, grainy, sometimes out of focus video that purports to show raids. A man can be seen being patted by police. It is not clear who is being detained in the video.

In a separate video aired by CNN affiliate Antena 3, DIICOT officers can be seen escorting Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate into a police vehicle.

On Friday, Andrew Tate tweeted from his verified account, “The Matrix sent their agents.”

DIICOT alleges that four unnamed suspects formed an organized crime group stretching from Romania to the UK and the United States, with the aim of committing human trafficking.

Authorities allege that two of the suspects deceived the victims into “believing that they intended to enter into a marriage/living relationship” while transporting the victims to Romania and then exploiting them. sex them with violence and physical coercion.

Authorities also said one of the suspects raped a victim on two separate occasions in March 2022. At least six victims are said to have been “sexually exploited by an organized crime group, ‘ said the DIICOT statement.

The four suspects will be detained for 24 hours after being questioned, according to DIICOT on Thursday.

Tate, a former professional kickboxer, is known for his viral rants about male domination, female subjugation and wealth. He openly advocated violence against women and was previously banned from every major social media platform until Elon Musk restored his Twitter account after taking over the company.

He rose to prominence earlier this year, with many adults including teachers at his school voicing the alarm about his misogynistic thoughts ingrained in the minds of countless boys. Before it was taken down, his TikTok account had racked up about 11.6 billion views.

He made headlines this week for his Twitter interaction with Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who told Tate to live after he tweeted about his numerous cars “and huge emissions” their respective giants”.
