Ally McCoist has asked Antonio Conte to leave Tottenham Manchester United this summer. The Scotland and Rangers legend believes Conte could move to Spurs due to a lack of transfer funds, while the Red Devils boast a huge checkbook.
The Italian was linked with the United job last year before firing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. By the time United sacked the Norwegian in November, Tottenham Conte has specified a long-term goal to succeed Nuno Espirito Santo.
Conte is considered by many to be an elite manager because of his work at JuventusItaly, Chelsea and Inter Milan. He has won four Serie A championships, Premier League, FA Cup and other titles in his coaching career. Conte has 15 months left on his current contract with Spurs.
United are still on the hunt for their next long-term manager. Ralf Rangnick has succeeded Solskjaer as caretaker manager but plans to start a two-year consulting deal at the club in the summer. Ajax manager Erik ten Hag was recently interviewed for work.
Many questioned Conte’s decision to accept the job of Tottenham due to the club’s tight budget. The experienced coach is notoriously a cash spender in the transfer market and Spurs require a rebuild if they want to compete for titles next season.
And, if Conte falls out of favor in the transfer market, McCoist believes he could move to Manchester. “I think United missed the boat by not appointing Conte at the end of last year, and under normal circumstances you would think that ship has sailed,” he said. FourFourTwo.

“He’s done a couple of weird interviews and made a few comments that show that’s the case. United have great players, but they’re not a great team, and I think Conte can help bring them together. It’s time for real change.”
As mentioned by McCoist, Conte has made some interesting remarks about his Tottenham future. Speaking last month – shortly after Spurs suffered their fourth defeat in five games – the Italian questioned whether his methods were working.

“Four defeats in the last five, it’s the first time in my life this situation has happened. It’s unacceptable. I came on to try to improve the situation with Tottenham but maybe in the moment. Hey, I’m not that fine.” to improve it.
“I’m trying to do everything to change the situation… maybe something is wrong. I’m too honest to close my eyes and keep saying, ‘OK, I want to end the season this way and be mine. I’d like to give the club a rating.”
