Apple made the iPhone 14 easier to repair than you expected

Apple admits that iPhone 14″ designed to be easier to repair, but it may not sell that upgrade yet. iFixit has complete a small portion of this year’s basic iPhone, and it’s clearly been rebuilt from the ground up with do-it-yourself fixes. The back glass is easier to fix and cheaper as promised, but has used a metal center frame to keep the front more accessible. IFixit says the design is more repairable than many Android phones that simply open from the back.

The iPhone 14’s mid-frame maintains the same structural rigidity as you’ve seen in the 13 family. Apple has moved the earpiece assembly and front-facing camera to an easier-to-repair location on the previous generation mainframe.

iPhone 14 won’t generate Fair phone buyers regret buying from them. Apple still requires customers and technicians to activate parts once they’re installed, so you can’t just use the unofficial back cover instead it could be more expensive Self-repair the components. Even so, iFixit still claims this is the most repairable Apple phone since the 2016 iPhone 7.

The rework is not entirely surprising. Apple is facing pressure to improve repairability from both federal government and state legislature. If it doesn’t tackle home repairs with its designs, it risks confronting regulators that could force changes and introduce penalties. Whatever the reason, you probably won’t mind if you’re waiting for a truly fix-friendly iPhone.
