Arsenal face ending the season with another key player forced to sit on the bench due to injury.
The Gunners are ranked 5th in the Premier League but have a game against the 4th ranked team Tottenham Hotspur. Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has called their local neighbors a “one-man team” and once Harry Kane is rested, he believes his former side will take advantage and ensure Guaranteed Champions League kick for next season.
Former Gunners coach and club legend Arsène Wenger once again explained how close he was to signing Cristiano Ronaldo before the Portuguese player joins the rivals Manchester United in a move that continues to haunt the club, it is the illustrious career enjoyed by the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Partey injury blow
Arsenal will be without key midfielder Thomas Partey for the rest of the season Premier League Season.
Partey played in Monday night’s loss at Crystal Palace but could not finish the game, had to leave the field with 16 minutes remaining due to injury. While manager Mikel Arteta asked what the actual injury was, speaking on Friday, the Spaniard said it was a “concern” and that he would be out at least “the week”.
Arteta has said that Albert Sambi Lokonga could be a replacement for Partey while the Ghanaian midfielder is absent.
Merson’s Top Four Predictions
Arsenal are currently sitting in fifth place, one place behind the final Champions League but was marked to secure a place in the top 4 in the Premier League.
With nine games left for the north London outfit, they’re level on points with their rivals Tottenham but have a game in hand. Former Gunner Paul Merson believes Spurs are too dependent on Kane, who will not be able to stop Arsenal from surpassing them and securing a place in Europe next season with fourth place overall.
“As soon as he [Harry Kane] have one of those days off, Spurs will slip and Arsenal will pounce,” wrote Merson in Daily Star Column.
Wenger’s Ronaldo Story
In an alternate universe, Wenger would sign for Arsenal in 2003.
The Gunners’ pursuit of the United striker has been well documented and the Frenchman spoke once again of how the Portuguese star was close to landing in north London. Instead of wearing Arsenal red and linking up with Thierry Henry, Ronaldo ended up wearing United’s red despite being a few days away from Highbury.
