Bajaj Pulsar N160 is the most affordable new generation Pulsar in the Indian market. The Hero Xtreme 160R is a competitor to the Pulsar N160 which has a less powerful engine but is also lighter than the Pulsar.
Bajaj Auto has finally started updating their Pulsar line of motorcycles. Last year they launched the F250 and N250 and recently they launched the N160 which is the latest generation and most affordable Pulsar model on sale right now. Then there are Hero The Xtreme 160R has already become quite popular in the 160 cc segment. Below is a comparison between Bajaj Pulsar N160 and Hero Xtreme 160R.
Bajaj Pulsar N160 vs Hero Xtreme 160R: Appearance
The design of the Pulsar may be old but it has become an icon now. The wolfeye headlights still look aggressive and are instantly recognizable as ‘Pulsar’. Bajaj wanted to make sure that the new Pulsars were still easily recognizable. The N160 looks very similar to the N250. The only major difference is the exhaust design. The N160 has a bottom exhaust, while the N250 has a short and stout side-mounted unit.
The front headlight now has a projection but it still has the same design as the wolfeye headlight. There’s LED daytime running lights, a muscular fuel tank with a windscreen, side skirts and a sleek rear end. Overall, the N160 looks pretty good and aggressive on the road.
Hero Xtreme 160R cheap designed as a naked streetfighter. There are aggressive-looking headlights, muscular fuel tanks and small LED tail lights. It may not have as much pavement as the Pulsar N160 but some will like its relatively simple design.

The N160 comes with a 164.82cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 16 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 5-speed gearbox. Xtreme 160R is equipped with an air-cooled 163 cc engine, producing 15.2 hp and 14 Nm. It is also paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
So obviously Pulsar N160 is the more powerful motorcycle. The Pulsar N160’s performance numbers are also better despite being 15 kg heavier than the Xtreme 160R. Bajaj ensures that the engine’s torque is spread evenly throughout the entire rpm range.

In terms of features, the Xtreme 160R comes with a digital clock cluster with 5 levels of brightness adjustment and a gear position indicator. There’s also a USB charger for charging mobile devices and a single-channel ABS.
Pulsar N160 comes with LED projector headlights, digital instrument cluster with blanking distance and gear position indicator and USB charging port. Bajaj has retained the same tachometer that some still love. There is also a dual-channel ABS version of the Pulsar N160.

Braking duties on the Pulsar N160 are performed by a 300 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear. The Xtreme 160R comes with a 276 petal disc at the front and a 220 mm petal disc at the rear. Both motorcycles come with front tires sized 100/80 and rear tires sized 130/70. Both motorcycles come with 37mm forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear.

Hero Xtreme 160R price starts at 1.17 lakh and increase 1.22 thousand. Bajaj has just revealed the price of the dual-disc Pulsar N160 version. It costs 1.23 thousand. All prices mentioned here are factory prices.
