Batman’s Joker Reveals He’s Playing RPG In Best Games Advertisement Of 2021
We all know The Joker lost it. He goes around performing heinous acts of violence, all in an attempt to prove life has perennial comedy potential. But how many of us know he’s a *swallow* gamer? I did not. That is until a promotional duo for the idle figurative RPG Virtual Image started showing up around December 8th and that I discovered more recently. And now, The Joker’s true identity as a fearsome gamer has been revealed.
Good if you haven’t heard of Virtual Image. Me neither. But according to Official website of the game, it’s an idle 3D figurine RPG in which you collect anime figurines. These numbers — thought Amiibo but in-game — can be sent on quests and displayed in a virtual gallery. You can also level them up and participate in PvP battles on Android and iOS devices. It looks cool.
But that’s not why we’re here. No, dear reader, we are here for a tweet from Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad. Ahmad posted a video of a recent Virtual Image The Joker’s ad is about the game. And let’s just say it’s ridiculous. The fact is so absurd that I can’t stop laughing.
I mean, the opening line alone killed me. “As a gamer,” Joker said, “what sets you apart from other gamers?” It’s probably due to the actor’s inability to capture the erratic nature of the character in a one-and-a-half minute video game commercial. (Though they definitely look more like The Joker than Jared Leto did in Zack Snider’s Justice LeagueSuicide Squad.) Or maybe it’s just text. Either way, the whole ad, is purely flattery about how you can get it Virtual Image without being accused of spending money, made me laugh. Although he has a view that everyone plays games these days, the way things are presented and the situation is so overwhelming that it’s hard to take it seriously.
The best part? There are two of these ads, with Ahmad’s tweet being the second. The first part, above, shows The Joker punishing someone for the characters they had right before Virtual Image Operations team swoops in to confront him. It’s terrible. Horrible acting, terrible writing, horrible everything. And yet, it’s probably the funniest mobile game ad I’ve seen in a minute.
