Two women mysteriously missing after their wedding are found dead.
23 years old Alyssa Ros and 22 years old Xylona Gama attended a wedding in Ripon, California on Sunday and planned to drive to Modesto that night, to Alyssa’s father’s house. They never did.
Just two days after going missing, longtime friends were found dead inside a sunken car in the river Stanislaus near Spring Creek Country Club on Tuesday, according to Ripon Police Department. Officers discovered a vehicle that matched the description during the missing person investigation in a river near the southeast part of the golf course, and they quickly called authorities. Members of the police department along with firefighters and rescuers went to the scene and retrieved the vehicle from the river and discovered the bodies of childhood friends.
How they ended up in the river remains a mystery as police say there is no evidence of any criminal activity or foul play at this time. Talking to ABC10Alyssa’s father, Phalnithaba Ros, revealed that he also attended the wedding but left early after receiving calls from his other kids, who couldn’t stop crying at home. He immediately left, not forgetting to say goodbye to Alyssa, not knowing that it would be his last chance. Too terrible. He told the outlet:
“I called her and she said ‘It’s okay, Dad. I’m fine. You know, go take care of the boys. I am around family. Nothing will happen to me. “
About an hour later, his daughter called him to let him know that she, Xylona and several other guests were returning to his home. However, they never showed up. Phalnithaba quickly became worried and tried to call Alyssa, but her phone appeared to be “dead”:
“Everyone is at my house, and my daughter is not with her friends. And I was wondering, ‘What’s going on?’ I called her phone. It’s already dead.”
When he calls her friend’s cell phone, it’s the same thing – it goes straight to voicemail:
“I call every few hours just to see if they charge the phone. No one picked it up”.
Tragically, Phalnithaba received a text message from a friend on Tuesday showing a screenshot of a golf course employee saying he had found two missing girls dead in the Stanislaus River. He ran to the area and confirmed it was his daughter and her partner:
“You know, my heart just popped out of my chest and I just broke down. That’s what I don’t want to hear. It’s not real.
We can only imagine how much pain both of these families are going through right now. ONE GoFundMe since then established by Alyssa’s stepmother, Kimlyn Ros, to help pay for funeral expenses. She described her stepdaughter as someone with a “true heart”, writing:
“We will forever cherish the time and memories we were able to spend with Alyssa as we watched her grow into a beautiful young woman. Alyssa is someone who always sees the good in each of us. Her energy radiates through all that surrounds her, and her heart is so genuine. ”
“She wants the best for everyone she knows, and for all around her. She definitely made that known through her charismatic personality. She is very free, has a kind heart, is strong and very intelligent. She is beautiful inside and out.”
Our hearts go out to Alyssa and Xylona’s family during this difficult time. Hopefully they will soon have an answer on the cause of this terrible tragedy.
