Blizzard says mobile version of Warcraft will launch in 2022

Blizzard Entertainment plans to launch Warcraft title on mobile devices in 2022, Activision says in a quarterly earnings report skipped the usual call with investors and analysts.

Details are light, but Blizzard is working on “significant new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022,” including “brand new mobile Warcraft content.” It also means “new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone. ”

So far, the only mobile presence for Warcraft, a 25+ year old franchise (with a 15+ year old MMO), has been Hearthstone. That free game launched on iOS devices in April 2014 and for Android devices later that year. But Hearthstone is a card collecting game, completely different from the action RPG experience of World of Warcraft or the real-time strategy of the first three Warcraft titles.

Thursday’s news is exciting as Blizzard has announced Diablo Immortal, a mobile adaptation of the action role-playing series, in 2018, is due out last year. In August, Blizzard announced has been delayed until 2022 to respond to changes and feedback from a variety of technical alpha testing from December 2020 arrive Spring 2021.

Diablo everlasting‘S Announcement 2018 to be wide panning by die-hard fans who feel tricked by trailers for a main game only to get stuck with Smaller version of mobile dungeon crawler.

Taking so long to hit the market didn’t help the game’s reputation either. Looks like Blizzard learned from that episode and waited until this Warcraft mobile game was finalized, before subtly revealing it to less interested audiences.
