During a double screening of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns in London, Brendan Fraser decided to surprise the audience before filming started. He even appeared in a Rick O’Connell costume with a leather jacket.
Diversity The Fraser report made a British connection between these two films and Prince Charles Cinema audience when speaking in front of a crowd. “I am proud to stand before you tonight,” he said. “This is a film made in the UK. You should know that! Even the second movie. Be proud. Thank you for being here.”
Fraser also discussed the unknown nature of what he was doing with The First Mummy in the late 1990s. “We don’t know if it’s drama or comedy or action or horror or romance.. all of the above,” he said. “We didn’t know anything until it was tested in front of a British audience.”
The actor just received his first Oscar nomination in his career. Fraser was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for his role in The Whalein which he plays a 600-pound man trying to reconnect with his daughter.
For the future, Fraser has been open about reprising her O’Connell role in another Mummy movie. He has appeared as a character in three Mummy movies, though not in the 2017 reboot starring Tom Cruise.
The actor will next appear in Killers of the Flower Moon, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
