Even Channing Tatum think it’s too hard to be like Channing Tatum!
The Dog the star (and first time co-director) dropped by Performances by Kelly Clarkson last week to talk about his new movie, but Kelly Clarkson had to ask about Magic Mike 3!
The last part of the trilogy, disappointingly named Magic Mike’s Last Dance and not Magic Mike XXXwas announced last November, and although filming hasn’t even begun yet, it’s clearly on the show’s mind!
The American Idol alum showed a picture of Channing’s signature abs in the movie when asked about it, to which he replied:
“No, no, don’t put that up. Trust me, that’s probably why I didn’t want to do a third part. Because I have to look like that.”
Kelly was surprised. After all, doesn’t Channing exercise regularly even when he’s not playing a stripper? Sure, but it was a whole other level even for him! He explained:
“It’s hard to look like, even with practice, to be that in terms of shape, it’s unnatural. ”
When Kelly asked if the problem was eating “too well,” the 41-year-old former dancer took issue with the word “good,” countering:
“That’s not even healthy. You have to starve yourself. I don’t think when you’re that thin, it’s actually healthy for you.”
OH. Directly from someone who will know, someone who is doing it. For us, the fans. It’s “hell.” He continued:
“Really, I don’t know how people who work 9 to 5 really stay in shape because it’s my full-time job and I can barely do it. You have to exercise twice a day, you have to eat completely at a certain time, that’s a specific thing. ”
He added that his weight “fluctuates” a lot – and it’s not nearly as easy today to get back into that stripper shape. And much, much easier to get rid of it again, as he complained:
“And why, I don’t know why, it takes two months to get really thin, but in just three days you can lose it. I’m gone! I was like… what happened? Weekend! ”
What Channing misses most about the stripper’s super strict diet? It may not be what you think it is. It’s salt!
He says that the closer you get to the day you have to be “naked” on screen, the less salt you’re offered in your diet, and everything you eat becomes so bland that it “tastes like water.” Roaring!
Hear more about the highly reliable Channing – with the exception of the part about getting back into shape after two months – give it a go (below)!
