Meanwhile, penalty taker Jorginho was absent with Italy on international duty and was unable to help his side qualify for the 2022 World Cup Qatar, losing to North Macedonia. Jorginho missed two crucial penalties earlier in the group stage, before the defending European Championship champions were stunned to death in the knockout stages and sent home.

Heartbreak about Jorginho’s World Cup
Known for his composure from 12 yards, Jorginho is pondering his two penalty misses for Italy against Switzerland last year after the Italian was knocked out of the World Cup by North Macedonia in Thursday night.
The 2006 World Cup champions were sent out when a late North Macedonia goal secured a 1-0 win and Italy would not attend Qatar for the 2022 World Cup. It was a shock defeat for the defending champions. European rivals and Jorginho was quick to reflect on his previous pain.
“It hurts me just thinking about it, because I still think about it and it’s going to haunt me for the rest of my life,” he told RAI Sport, via Italian football.
Chelsea injury costs
One of the dangers of having high-paid players subsequently injured is the cost of missing games.
Since the beginning of the 2021/2022 season, Chelsea topped the list of losing money due to players not being able to play due to injuries. With 55 separate injuries in such a short time, manager Thomas Tuchel has had to use the depth of his team to stay competitive and close to the top of the Premier League.
The total cost of those injuries amounted to £14.02 million with an average total cost per injury of £250,000.
