Countdown to MLB Qualifiers: Astros face AL West

The hunt to play baseball in October is heating up.

Have some MLB Split races can go down the line, and each wild card’s position is still waiting to be taken.

This is where the playoff race in both leagues runs through Monday night.

NL West

The Los Angeles Dodgers (102-44) owns the best record in the sport and won the championship last Tuesday. The San Diego Padres (81-66) is the ultimate wild card seed.


The New York Mets (94-55) and Atlanta Braves (92-55) is entering the slugfest competition for the NL East, with New York ahead of Atlanta. The Mets clinched a playoff berth – but not a split – with their win on Monday night. Meanwhile, Philadelphia Phillies (80-66) is the number 3 NL wildcard.


The St. Louis Cardinals (87-61) have been one of the hottest teams since the All-Star and have since risen to the top of NL Central on their own. On the other hand, Milwaukee Brewers (78-69) is the first 8.5 hands in the dealer and 2.5 hands for the wild.

The Houston Astros (97-51) overcame AL West with a 4-0 win on Monday. Dusty Baker’s club is currently leading 15 games on Seattle Mariners (81-65). Mariners is the 4 AL wild card.


The New York Yankees (88-58) remained on top of the AL East despite their extra game late in the game, holding a 5.5-game lead on Toronto Blue Jays (83-64). Meanwhile, Tampa Bay Rays (82-65) 5.5 games more than Baltimore Orioles (76-70) for the final AL wildcard.


In a part that changed all summer, Cleveland Defenders (80-67) is the previous four games Chicago White Sox (76-71). The Minnesota Twins (73-74), who were top of the table throughout the first half, are now in the first seven games.
