Crawford Coach BoMac Tells Spence “Bud Is Ready”

Via Sam Volz: Coach Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre insists that Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford will be ready to take on Errol Spence Jr on November 19 in their undisputed clash at 147.

The match between Spence and Crawford has yet to be signed, but negotiations reportedly look good for the two welterweight champions to meet in less than two months from now in Las Vegas.

WBO champion Crawford (38-0.29 KOs) will take a huge step up in class over the opponent he is facing in the welterweight division. He hasn’t fought anyone near Spence level since moving up in 2018, so it’s hard to know how he’ll react.

BoMac doesn’t like people saying Crawford hasn’t fought anyone yet, but that’s the reality of the situation. He has never fought dangerous heavyweights like Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Vergil Ortiz Jr or Yordenis Ugas.

“I think Spence is something special because of where he is in this game. But I know how much Bud and he wanted to fight Spence,” coach Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre told. Fighthype.

“He wants to conquer the 147-lb division; He wants to be the undisputed king. It’s a tough task for a boxer who wants to do it against a fighter like Spence, but you better believe me, Bud is ready.

“I’m tired of people saying Bud doesn’t fight anyone. Once he conquers and becomes the undisputed champion, all of that dies.

“Boots is a phenomenon, a great fighter, a good kid. I’m sure that fight happened on the chessboard, and everything fits together; that’s going to be something we’ll look at,” BoMac said of the fight against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

“They fight equally,” BoMac said when asked who is a tougher opponent for Crawford between Spence and undisputed young middleweight champion Jermell Charlo. “I will give it to Spence for what he has achieved in the sport of boxing.

“He is [Jermell] been beaten before. Spence was not defeated. First of all, we want to win. We’re going to go in and win. As for the fashion that it comes with, we’ll gladly go 12 laps. If the knockout is there, we might as well take it.

“I wanted Bud to accomplish everything he wanted to achieve in boxing,” BoMac said.
