Crawford should fight Boots next says Bozy Ennis Boxing News 24

Via Chris Williams: Coach Derek “Bozy” Ennis Sr. says that Terence Crawford should fight the next undefeated Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis because neither boxer has a scheduled fight right now, and it’s a natural fight to do.

Bozy says WBO Korean weight champion Crawford (38-0.29 KOs) won’t fight #3 IBF undefeated, #5 WBA, #5 WBO, #6 WBC, Boots Ennis (26-0, 24 KOs) because he’s waiting to get a “bigger game”.

Crawford, 34, will sit back and wait for the smoke to clear from Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman vs Mario Barrios on February 5 before finding a match against Keith if he wins.

With Crawford having to await the outcome of the Thurman-Barrios battle, he won’t be back in the ring until June or July to defend against ‘One Time’.

Boots Ennis ready to replace Crawford

It’s a waste of time for Crawford to sit idly by, but on the other hand, if he gives the boxing world a match many fans want against the undefeated phenom Jaron Ennis, he’ll likely lose to the Philadelphia native .

Jaron Ennis Keith Thurman Terence Crawford

Ennis was the next star in the 147 lb division and was talented enough to beat ALL of the top heavyweights, including Errol Spence Jr. and Yordenis Ugas.

If Crawford agrees to face Boots Ennis, it will indeed be a change of keeper with 24-year-old Jaron taking over as No. 1 in the league and Terence being replaced.

Bozy says Crawford should fight Boots next

“I agree with that,” Bozy Ennis said YSM Sports Media on Terence Crawford should fight ‘Boots’ Ennis next as neither of them have a battle schedule right now. “That’s the next SHOULD.

“But then again, I also understood what Crawford was trying to do. He’s trying to get a bigger fight and more money,” Bozy said about why Terence hasn’t shown any interest in facing the undefeated high-ranking ‘Boots’ Ennis.

“So I don’t blame him for that. Porter is retired. Everyone is not ready for him,” Bozy said when asked WHO should Jaron Ennis fight if he can’t get Crawford to face him.

“Yes, and they will keep pushing, too,” Bozy said of the possibility that boxing fans will continue to push for Crawford to face ‘Boots’ Ennis in the coming months.

“But you know boxing. No, I don’t see it happening.” said Bozy Ennis with a sad resignation on his face when asked if he had seen Crawford facing ‘Boots’ Ennis. “No, boxing is something, man.

“It’s all about politics, man. You play a hell of a game, and you know what I mean. Oh yeah, we’ll fight him. Fast, fast and rushed,” Bozy said when asked if Boots would take on Crawford if the option was there.

Ideally, Crawford should fight Boots Ennis, but he knows what time it is. If Crawford makes that fight, Ennis will likely stop him as quickly as he did with Thomas Dulorme last October, and Terence’s career will be over.

Crawford is starting to age

As we saw in Crawford’s final fight against the washed-out Shawn Porter, he’s lost a step and his reflexes aren’t what they used to be.

Porter hit Crawford with shots he wouldn’t have been hit ten years ago, but he could no longer dodge them. If Crawford faces Boots Ennis now, it likely won’t end well for Terence.

An old boxer will do the noble thing and face Boots Ennis, but Crawford is the new generation type of guy. He won’t stick his neck out and fight Boots, knowing the possible outcome.

It will be a show Crawford’s bravery to join the fight with Boots Ennis in March and try to pick up the pieces of his career later if things fall apart for him.
