David Benavidez Beats Canelo Alvarez says Kyrone Davis

Via Sean Jones: Kyrone Davis says he thinks David Benavidez has the tools to beat Canelo Alvarez now.

Davis feels that Canelo has problems moving his legs, which will be taken advantage of by former two-time WBC super middleweight champion Benavidez (26-0.23 KOs), 25.

The high-volume punch that Benavidez delivers will be kryptonite for Canelo, who has developed the bad habit of throwing only punches in the last two years of his career.

Canelo used to be able to hit the ball, but he avoided it, and that’s why he looked so bad in recent matches against Gennadiy Golovkin and Dmitry Bivol.

At this stage, no one can doubt that 32-year-old Canelo will be able to return to the throw-in as he did when he was younger.

Last year, Benavidez stopped Davis in the seventh round in a one-way fight. Davis tried very well, but he was a punching bag for Benavidez until the lucky contest was stopped in the seventh.

Canelo has shown signs of decline in his last two fights with Golovkin and Bivol, looking like the boxer who beat several paper champions in 2021 in the super-middle class.

It doesn’t matter if Benavidez can beat Canelo because the red-haired star has vowed not to fight the Mexican boxer. Unless Canelo changes his mind about that, we won’t see Benavidez and him mixing it up.

According to coach Sampson Lewkowicz, Benavidez will not fight until January. That means he’ll only fight once this year, which is disappointing since he hasn’t been active enough to build up his star power.

Canelo doesn’t look like a similar fighter after dedicating the past four years to defeating weaker opponents like Billy Joe Saunders, Avni Yildirim and Caleb Plant. When Canelo fights a good guy for change against Bivol, he’s completely plunged into shameful loss.

I think David [Benavidez] maybe. He has all the necessary tools. Canelo has flaws, moves his feet,” Kyrone Davis told Fighthype when asked if David Benavidez can beat Canelo Alvarez.

“Benavidez throws snow at his punches. It may be enough to win a decision. I don’t know for sure. They have to fight the war. Benavidez is a huge talent. I was there with him.

“I feel like if I had had more time to prepare, it would have been completely different. In his career, I think he [Benavidez] did a great job, and I think it’s going to be a 50-50 fight.

“I think he is a hungry boxer. You can tell he works hard, he’s determined and he’s a former champion. You have to take your hat off to him. What I will say is this. There are mistakes in everyone’s game.

“We are at the highest level, and every little thing matters. I don’t know how he prepared for the fight. I don’t know how he trained for the battle. When I fight, I know that I have the same ability as himand I know if he fails, I know I can beat him.

“He did his A game, and he prepared for the fight just like he should have prepared for the fight. I only have two weeks. I went in there and fought, and it was a good fight, but he won in the end.

“I know if I were 100%, that fight would be completely different. But you know, I can say this, I can say that. It doesn’t really matter to anyone. What I need to do is show people that I’m prepared and ready to fight anyone at 168, and I’ll fight anyone at 160,” Davis said.

“Most likely in January,”Sampson Lewkowicz told ESNEWS when asked when David Benavidez will fight next.
