DC pubgoers gather for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral with pints, breakfast

Before sunrise, dozens of pub-goers in DC gathered over plates of baked beans, eggs and steamed ham at Queen Vic, a cozy English pub on H Street in Northeast Washington, to watch live at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Owners and partners Ryan Gordon and Roneeka Bhagotra greeted customers at 5:30 a.m., shortly after the procession began at Westminster Hall. The two have celebrated Prince William and Catherine’s wedding, the World Cup and many other major football matches. This time, however, they said they wanted to provide a safe space for people to grieve.
