Hamas described the incident as a “heroic operation” but took no responsibility
Two people, including a 6-year-old boy, were killed and several others injured when a car crashed into a group of people standing at a bus stop just outside Jerusalem on Friday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the incident as a terrorist attack.
At least five other people were injured in a car crash that took place in a Jewish settlement near East Jerusalem’s Ramot neighborhood. The victims were waiting for a bus at the time of the incident, one of which is said to be in critical condition. Police have said that the driver was shot dead at the scene by officers.
“People were lying around, thrown around, in very bad condition,” volunteer doctor Ariel Ben-David told Army Radio. “Unfortunately, one child didn’t make it.”

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu considered the incident a terrorist attack and ordered increased security in the area and ordered the destruction of the house of the suspected terrorist, in line with government policy. .
“I conducted a security review and ordered reinforcements, arrests and immediate action to seal off the terrorist’s house and destroy it.“, said Mr. Netanyahu.
A spokesman for Hamas, the Palestinian nationalist organization that controls Gaza, called the attack “heroic activity” but does not accept responsibility.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region. In late January, seven people were shot dead by a Palestinian gunman outside a synagogue in Jerusalem. That comes just days after nine Palestinians were killed following an Israeli special forces operation in the northern West Bank city of Jenin.
