Other officials whom state broadcaster CCTV said were members of Sun’s “political faction” also received lengthy prison sentences this week.
They include former Justice Minister Fu Zhenghua, former party official Wang Ru, and three former police chiefs of Shanghai, Chongqing and Shanxi provinces.
Fu pleaded guilty to accepting bribes to help conceal criminal activity.
Wang is accused of accepting bribes of 440 million yuan ($62 million) to help conduct business transactions or secure loans and jobs.
