Denmark midfielder Thomas Delaney will miss the World Cup after sustaining a knee injury during the team’s opening goalless draw with Tunisia, the country’s FA announced on Wednesday. Coach Kasper Hjulmand said: “We will miss him, both on and off the pitch.
“Our other players are ready and we have a strong squad for the upcoming matches.”
Delaney, who is playing for his club against Sevilla in Spain, will miss Denmark’s remaining Group D matches against world champions France and Australia.
Denmark drew goalless against Tunisia in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup.
