Sunday’s crash happened on Highway 1 at 3:15 a.m. (03:15 GMT).

“It was a serious accident,” Colonel Cheikh Fall, head of operations for the National Fire Brigade, told AFP news agency. “There were 125 victims, of which 38 died.”

He said the victims had been taken to a hospital and medical center in Kaffrine, adding that the wreckage and destroyed buses had been cleared and normal traffic was restored. again.
