Eddie Hearn responded to Jake Paul’s serious and unfounded claims of corruption in the Matchroom section and judge, Glenn Feldman.
This week, in a video interview, the YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul, stated that Judge Glenn Feldman “is getting money through Matchroom Boxing.”
His allegations surfaced in conversation about Katie Taylor’s victory over Paul-promoted boxer, Amanda Serrano. Paul took issue with Feldman’s scoring in the match, and went on to say he disagreed with the same referee’s scoring for Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua’s rematch.
Capturing the wind of commentary, Eddie Hearn responded via Matchroom’s YouTube channel.
“Jake Paul is good at boxing in many ways, but Jake Paul can also be terrible at boxing. Because of the fact that he just found a boxing gym and decided to become a boxer – he no longer respects the industry and the history of the sport of boxing. “
“What he said, about the alleged corruption to Glenn Feldman, was completely unacceptable – and we all laughed at Jake, and he was an average boxer – now I’m saying it. to you, what he said is unacceptable and it’s ‘I will be dealt with. “
“We take the sport seriously, we value our values as a business and a family. And we love the sport of boxing. So for him to make stupid comments without even thinking about what he said, to me as a business, and very disrespectful to us as a business. way is a business as well as a family. “
“Jake’s comments will be handled appropriately – and I’m not prepared, as I usually do in many cases, just to understand what he’s saying with a pinch of salt.”
“I consider it extremely personal, because they are questioning our credentials, they are questioning our integrity, and I am not going to have it. So he will have to face the burden of that, and maybe he [doesn’t] interested, but I do. “
Hearn went on to question Paul’s claims, pointing to the fact that advertising agencies don’t choose judges for verbal duels – something Paul has previously alluded to in his interview.
“And he didn’t even understand. When he said “Why did Matchroom still choose that judge” – Matchroom don’t choose the judge, you idiot. Roses do. I don’t even think he knows the rules. I don’t think he knows the structure. I don’t think he knows how it works.”
It’s unclear how Hearn, President of Matchroom Sport, plans to handle the allegation – but from his enthusiastic response, it would be fair to assume this won’t be the end of the matter.
