A board game based on Elden Ring on the way from Steamforged Games. The British company is also the publisher behind other video game-inspired board games, including Dark Souls: The Board Gamemuch Resident Evil Board gameand Horizon Zero Dawn: The Board Game. The project will be funded through Kickstarter. No pricing, release or project launch date information has been announced.
“Like video games, Elden Ring board game that will immerse players in the Abandoned Lands,” Steamforged said in a release released Friday. The 1-4 player game puts you in the role of the Defeat, and includes “a vast and varied adventure.”
Steamforged said: “The challenging battles that are typical of video games will be recreated by intelligent combat without the use of dice,” requiring players to strategize and adjust their plans in each game. encounter – whether it’s the mediocre Godrick Warrior or the compound King himself. ”
The announcement comes with an early render for a miniature of Margit, Fell Omen, one of the Elden Ringthe first boss monsters.
Previous campaigns for Steamforged products have included multiple expansions, often centered around a single boss encounter. Those expansions are often offered as part of a crowdfunding campaign and can include giant miniatures that sit a foot or more away from the table. An honest adaptation of Elden Ring sounds like a great opportunity to create more of the same.
In the past, Steamforged products have raised millions of dollars through crowdfunding – but they also suffered from some quality issues upon release. For example, in our review of Dark Souls: The Board Game we see action as tired, if not overwhelming – especially for newer players. Then some ingredients for Resident Evil 2: The Board Game is simply too dark to be useful. Most recently, the entire first run of Dark Souls: Role Playing Game must be reprintedwith the publisher issuing an official apology to the fans.
These failures did not slow the company down one bit, but continued to achieve lucrative partnerships with video game publishers. It recently launched two new “core sets” for Dark Souls: The Board Game – Dark Souls: The Board Game, Painted World of Ariamis and Dark Souls: The Board Game, Tomb of Giants. The first one is in stores now, while the second will launch on November 8.
