NEW DELHI: The ruling Parliament will announce its ministerial candidate on Sunday. The sign came from Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who was considered to be second in the race.
Party leaders Rahul Gandhi will be in Ludhiana, where he is expected to make the announcement.
Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi announced that bullets had been fired at his vehicle in western Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh
Deputy Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya submitted his nomination paper from Sirathu council seat here in the presence of BJP President JP Nadda and Apna Dal(S) leader Anupriya Patel. Speaking to reporters after submitting his nomination, Nadda said that Maurya is a senior leader of the party and that besides Sirathu, he has played an important role in the development of the state over the past five years.
In Lucknow, the prime minister Yogi Adityanath accused his predecessors of not carrying out “police reform and amendment” because the latter wanted to use the agency as their “personal tool”. He stated that the state has been free of riots and terrorist activities for 5 years and that Uttar Pradesh has become a favorite destination for investors.
Meanwhile, AIMIM director Asaduddin Owaisi alleged his car was shot by unidentified men while he was returning to Delhi from Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh. Owaisi’s vehicle was near the Chhijarsi toll station on the Hapur-Ghaziabad section of Highway 24 when the incident happened around 6pm.
Rahul Gandhi is likely to announce the name of Parliamentary chief minister candidate to the Punjab polls on Sunday, when he visits Ludhiana for a virtual rally.
Gandhi has announced that the Congress will soon announce its ministerial face for the February 20 elections and a decision on this will be made after consultation with the workers in the party.
Minister Channi and Speaker of Parliament Navjot Singh Sidhu, directly or indirectly, have made a case to be declared party’s candidate.
Channi also said in his constituency, Chamkaur Sahib that the main face of Parliament could be declared on Sunday.
In Dhuri, from where he is running for election, AAP ministerial nominee Bhagwant Mann claims that the people of Punjab are tired of giving opportunities to Parliament and SAD for the past 44 years and now want the Party Aam Aadmi (AAP) joins Saddle.
BJP sources said on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to deliver a digital rally on February 4 covering Uttarakhand’s 14 constituencies. On the same day, Modi is also likely to tackle a digital protest in Uttar Pradesh, the sources said.
This will be Modi’s second digital rally with the first being held on January 31.
Parliamentary Leader Kisan Rakesh Kumar Singh has been appointed poll coordinator for the Srinagar and Dharampur constituencies in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand Speaker of Parliament Ganesh Godiyal is running from Srinagar seat in Pauri district while Dinesh Aggarwal is running from Dharampur seat in Dehradun.
Candidates in the National Assembly poll in Goa will pledge their loyalty to the party in the presence of senior leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday, when he will make a one-long visit days to the state, a party official said.
