Elon Musk Announces Tweaks in Twitter Interface, Here's What Will Change

New Delhi:

Twitter is set for major interface changes and the long-form text feature could be rolled out as early as February, the platform’s CEO Elon Musk announced today.

In a tweet posted this morning, Mr Musk listed a number of changes to Twitter’s user interface that will be introduced soon.

“Easily swipe right/left to move between suggested and followed tweets coming later this week. First part of a much bigger UI overhaul. Bookmark (like) button silenced in fact) on details Tweet will come out a week later. Long form tweets early February”, he tweeted.

The Twitter CEO in November announced that the platform would soon allow users to post long-form text in their tweets, which currently has a character limit of 280.

“Twitter will soon add the ability to attach longform text to tweets, ending the absurdity of notepad screenshots,” he said at the time.

The changes announced today will be the latest in a series of tweaks since Mr Musk took over the microblogging site in a $44 billion deal.

Enabling long-form text in tweets has been a contentious issue, with many requesting the feature and others warning that Twitter would no longer be unique if long posts were allowed.

Opponents of the move also argue that users can now post details using the theme option and that removing the character limit is unnecessary.
