Far Too Easy’s performance on the Gold Coast on Saturday ticked three big boxes.
First, he’s appreciated his relationship by showing he’s healthy and really getting over his recent health hiccups. Second, it announced with no certainty that he was completely on track for his date with 2 million dollars Kosciuszko and third, it made his opponents notice that he could be a big player in that race Everest Day at Randwick on October 15.
Coach David McColm is understandably pleased with the 3.30 demolition work Far Too Easy has done on his opponents… and that, with All Too Hard’s son, has made the effort. His winning power in the supposed and inferior part of the track with his signature lows, the push-forward tractor framed his own particular racing action.
However, Far Too Easy was barely given the green light to face the starter.
“It’s kind of like a pressure cooker at home for us,” McColm suggests. “We had a few minor hiccups with him.
“He had a skin allergy about ten days ago. We fought that… and he had a little blood disorder on Tuesday (last week), but it was fine on Thursday.
“And when we got to the Gold Coast, it was a tough ride. We were almost scratching our heads… but, anyway, things worked in our favor, so we skipped it.”
In essence, victory on the heavyweight track is another ticked box.
“It ticks another box,” said McColm, “because, if it got wet in Sydney (for Kosciuszko), I wouldn’t be as worried as I might have been… let’s put it that way. “
McColm, who is based in Murwillumbah, has taken Far Too Easy to Sydney once before, when he finished fourth in the National Championship Finals in April, and he will adopt the same approach. close this time.
“I wouldn’t change anything with this horse because we are going to Kosciuszko. Last season’s formula was perfect and we’ve kept it going.”
And who will ride Far Too Easy on the big day?
“We haven’t made any decisions on that yet,” McColm replied. “We have quite a few riders who want to ride, but we still have to make a decision about that.”
Far Too Easy has won six of his eleven starts… including a win in the Rupert Plate Victory at Doomben… and he also has notable placement results, such as second place two behind Me Me Legard in Gold Edition and fourth place behind King Of Sparta in Millions of Magic Guineas three years old, to his credit.
