Before Manchester United star Karel Poborsky looks like a different man after trimming his teeth and growing a small beard.

The Czech Republic international, who has spent two years at Old Trafford since 1996, is known for his long-legged locks.

Now, long after his retirement, Poborsky has cut it all out and the sport and short style is much more manageable.

The 49-year-old now ended his playing career in 2007.

His impressive club CV shows him playing for United, where he won Premier League medals, as well as enjoy the magic at Benfica and Lazio.

Poborsky also made more than 100 caps for his national team, helping them reach the semi-finals of the 1996 and 2004 Euros.

One of his most famous moments was in England at Villa Park, when he scored for the Czech Republic at Euro 96.

Karel Poborsky trimmed his former long bar

The midfielder penetrated the defense before knocking Victor Baia down in the Portuguese goal with his strike settling the last eight encounters.

He has since said FourFourTwo on goal: “I didn’t mean to go around the ball quite high, but it bounced a bit on the grass. I’m afraid it went over the bar – it was such a high tire – but luckily it was. it went into the net.”

“In that moment, my first thought was not the beauty of the goal – I just felt happy that we won.”

Later that summer, Poborsky moved to the Premier League with United.

Sir Alex Ferguson has approached the Czech star to see if he is interested in a move, and discussions will take a few minutes to conclude.

“I met Alex Ferguson during the tournament,” Poborsky added.

“He came to our hotel in London a few days before the final and asked if I wanted to join United. I said yes, so the negotiations started.

“I was focused for the final against Germany, but I’m honored that someone like him comes to London just to see me for two or three minutes – that’s all.”

He went on to say, “In the end, I was there for only 18 months.

“It was almost impossible for me to secure a regular spot in the starting XI against David Beckham, at the start of his incredible career.

“But I don’t feel bitter at all. The players accepted me and I always tried my best even though I only came on for the last 20 minutes of the game.”

Since retiring, Poborsky has struggled with Lyme disease, which he believes was acquired from a tick.

In 2016 it was alleged of the Czech Express newspaper that a tick lived on his facial hair and when it was bitten, the parasite bit and infected him.
