Gervonta Davis is being defended says Gary Russell Jr

Via Allan Fox: Gary Russell Jr. says that Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is being “Protected” by his managers at Mayweather Promotions, and they don’t want to mess up the “investment” they’ve received.

WBC featherweight champion Russell Jr said he wanted to fight Tank Davis (26-0, 24 KOs), but they showed no interest in fighting him.

Russell has concluded that Mayweather Promotions doesn’t want to see their boxer WBA lightweight tank champion fight anyone good who could sabotage their earners.

Gary pointed out that Tank Davis had to stay focused during many of his games, coming back to score a knockout or winning a decisive victory after coming in from behind.

Tank recently won a controversial 12th round against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on December 5 in a bout that many boxing fans felt the Mexican had done enough to win. The result was an unsuccessful cherry pick for Tank’s promoters.

Russell: Davis tanks are being protected

“I can’t force these people into the ring with me. It doesn’t make sense from a business perspective to someone [Floyd Mayweather Jr] that’s trying to protect their investment when it comes to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis [fight] because he will most likely burn down,” Gary Russell Jr said via Mike Coppinger.

“Even if I fought with everyone, they would still have something to say,” said Russell Jr. talk to Podcast stands last with Brian Custer about how he will still be criticized even as he fights everyone.

Many boxing fans believe that Mayweather Promotions protected Tank Davis from Vasily Lomachenko, Teofimo Lopez, and now George Kambosos Jr.

Instead of pairing Davis Tank against those fighters, he was brought in to fight these guys:

  • Leo Santa Cruz
  • Mario Barrios
  • Isaac Cruz
  • Yuriorkis Gamboa
  • Ricardo Nunez
  • Hugo Ruiz

“I cannot put all the pressure on them. They can’t force these guys into the ring and compete with me,” said Russell Jr when asked why the PBC didn’t put more pressure on the fighters under their banner to get in the ring with him.

Russell Jr said:

“Fans need to stop supporting some fighters, especially when you know the outcome of a fight before it happens,” said Russell J. It’s so skewed that it’s a waste of time to watch the fight.

“You just watch the fight just to see this guy fight here. The fans are the ones who are becoming trezed. They want to see the best versus the best, and these guys have to be pushed into it,” said Russell Jr.

Tank Davis has never been involved in a fight where you don’t know the outcome. He’s always up against guys where he’s certain he’ll win, and that’s pathetic.

They’re ruining Tank Davis’ legacy by not comparing him to the best fighters like Lomachenko and other top boxers at 135. At this point, Gervonta could be much more popular if he’s up against him. head with the best.

Tank didn’t need to be protected as if he were fragile and made of crockery, but the way he gave the impression that his promoter lacked confidence in him.

The point is, for Gervonta to become as famous and make money as Mayweather, he has to fight at his best. That doesn’t happen, and you have to wonder why.

If Tank starts to fight at its best, he will take the shine away from his Mayweather promoter, and he will be the one to earn the adoration from boxing fans.
