Taiwan’s electric mobility giant Gogoro and India’s Belrise Industries have announced a partnership with the state of Maharashtra to establish a battery swapping infrastructure. A non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Maharashtra booth at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. As part of the deal, Gogoro and Belrise will have a 50:50 partnership and will invest $2.5 billion over the next eight years to build the necessary charging infrastructure.
As part of building out the charging infrastructure, the companies plan to set up smart battery and battery swapping stations across the state. This will help drive job growth across the entire energy, electric and sustainability value chain, the companies say. The extensive charging network will also enable electric vehicle production and assembly in the state.

Speaking about the announcement, Maharashtra Minister Eknath Shinde said, “This is truly a remarkable time for the State, which will probably be the largest green partnership of this nature worldwide. gender.”

The partnership hopes to bring smart mobility sharing, smart electric vehicles, on-demand services and smart agriculture, among other applications.

Gogoro and Belrise will start building battery swap infrastructure in Maharashtra from this year onwards. They plan to leverage Gogoro’s smart battery stations, technology swaps, network management solutions as well as energy storage solutions. The partnership also hopes to bring together the ability to share smart mobility, smart electric vehicles, on-demand services, and smart agriculture, among other uses thanks to its extensive charging network. .
