Win Magic Millions on Saturday, then Stradbroke aims for Spiritualization
Tony Gollan can’t speak highly enough about the group of three-year-olds he currently has in his Eagle Farm stables, and with a winning pair in Saturday’s Magic Millions features, it’s understandable that the favorite His is increasing day by day.
Spiritised won the $250,000 (1300m) Magic Millions Rising Stars for three- and four-year-old colts and ponies while Latakia won the athletics version by the same distance.
All is well, Brisbane’s top coach intends to assist both in Magic Millions 3yo Guineas (1400m) this Saturday and while class promotion will be another test for them, for the Spiritualized One having an extra interest in succeeding on that trip will raise Gollan’s hopes of the horse being I am a real horse. Stradbroke Handicap Group 1 (1400m) chance in June instead of looking further south, now.
Gollan said of the $1.5 million state premier race in 2022: “The money in Queensland is too good to be ignored.
“And I really think this horse has the ability to raise itself to that level, making Saturday’s 1400m run even more of an interesting test.”
After Saturday’s race, jockey James Orman noted that being able to take the lead early and fall back in the middle of a speed race was key to keeping the pony by Spirit Of Boom able to ‘breathe’.
“Once he gets there, he can relax underneath me,” Orman said.
“It’s all about breathing and if he breathes, nothing can beat him.”
Should similar conditions occur on the Gold Coast again this week, Spiritised’s further Magic Millions conquest suggests Gollan is aiming for the winter character and then looking at spring carnivals in Sydney or Melbourne.
“He’s shown that he’s versatile,” added Gollan.
“We can have him run anywhere between 1200 and 1400 metres and Group 1 races on those distances outside of Brisbane are now within his reach but that will depend on what happens. what will happen as he gets older see if that range narrows.
“The more he matures and learns to control himself means he has a lot more ahead of him. Time will answer.”
The rated Spiritised has an $11 chance for the $2 million 3-year Guineas with Russian Conquest favorites at $5.
“We have a bunch of adorable three-year-olds and they seem to roll like a production line every few weeks and all kinds of sprinters.”
“This is a really exciting time for stables and we’re going to see a lot of them traveling interstate.”
Along with Golden Boom who impressed last month and Antino having won four races in five starts, Golan has described Latakia as “very talented” and the boy is also facing the Guineas.
The current opportunity is $15, he reinforces that her abilities should not be underestimated.
He said: “1400 meters will fit her to the ground.
“I know she won that race and only won one girl in Doomben but she’s a really talented girl.”
Spiritised was purchased for $575,000 during the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2021 sale while Latakia, by Deep Fields, was a $520,000 purchase.
