Gosh! Jussie Smollett released from prison pending appeal

His security team continued to push for his release, even claiming at one point that Smollett could be in physical danger if he remained locked up. Based on TMZ, attorneys said he allegedly received numerous racist and homophobic text messages and phone calls since he was sent to prison. They also note that because Smollett is immunocompromised, he is at high risk of contracting COVID-19 while in prison, and therefore, he should be released.
