Guidance on CDC’s new Covid-19 isolation and isolation recommendations
Australia’s most populous state, New South Wales (NSW), reported daily Covid-19 cases nearly doubling on Wednesday with 11,201 new infections – up from 6,602 the day before.
Most cases are found in the state capital Sydney.
Three new deaths were also announced by NSW Health in Wednesday’s statement.
NSW Health said: “There are currently 625 hospitalized COVID-19 cases, with 61 in intensive care, 23 requiring ventilation.
Speaking to Sydney radio 2GB Tuesday NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet defended his decision to ease restrictions earlier this month, including reintroducing broad freedoms for those who have not been vaccination.
“We have always said when we open up, the number of cases will go up,” Perrottet said. “These are the difficulties that we will go through.”
Perrottet added: “I think NSW is in a very strong position and I’m very confident about 2022.
