Yes, that’s right, Saturday Night Live introduced us to the fictional trailer of “Mario Kart,” a gritty post-apocalyptic drama that features host Pedro Pascal as the protagonist Mario. In a world ravaged by Bowser (Kenan Thompson), Mario must escort Princess Peach (Chloe Fineman) to Rainbow Road. The film will also star Luigi (Mikey Day), Yoshi (Bowen Yang) and Toad (Marcello Hernández) as potential allies, who also happen to be bisexual.
From the high production value, deliberate hype and attention to detail, this is truly one of the best produced sketches in recent times. SNL memory. It’s worth watching, even just hearing Pascal say “It’s me, Mario,” in the gruff voice of the action protagonist.
