Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviews Covid-19 situation amid surge in global cases | India News

NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday is holding a review meeting with health officials on the Covid-19 situation amid a spike in global infections.
Minister of Health and Ministry of Ayush, Department of Pharmaceuticals and Department of Biotechnology, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Rajiv Bahl, Member (Medical) of NITI Aayog VK Paul and Chairman The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) NL Arora and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Mansukh Mandaviya called on Parliament leaders Rahul Gandhi and Ashok Gehlot Strictly follow the Covid instructions in Bharat Jodo Yatra or delay it.

Union Ministry of Health on Tuesday called on all states and union territories to augment the whole genome sequencing of positive samples to track newer variants.
In a letter to states and UT, Union Health Minister Rajesh Bhushan said such a test would enable timely detection of newer variants, if any, circulating in the country and would facilitate the implementation of necessary public health measures.
He emphasized that India with its focus on a fivefold strategy of test-trace-treat-vaccination and compliance with Covid-appropriate behavior has been able to limit the transmission of coronavirus and is seeing about 1,200 cases weekly.
