Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, announced sales of 4,50,154 units in March 2022. Hero sold 4,15,764 two-wheelers in India last month, in which 34,390 units have been shipped to the international market. The company said this is a month-on-month growth compared to the number of vehicles sold in the previous month as it sold 358,254 motorbikes and scooters in February 2022.
However, in terms of year-on-year growth, overall sales fell sharply as Hero sold 5,76,957 two-wheelers in March 2021 compared to 4,50,154 units sold in last month. While domestic sales fell sharply, exports grew slightly as the company shipped 34,390 units last month, compared with 32,617 units registered in the same period a year ago.
Manufacturer Splendor announced that with pandemic restrictions steadily lifted and the market moving in the right direction, it expects to see sales momentum pick up in the new 2022-23 financial year.
In terms of the overall sales performance of fiscal year 22, the company sold a total of 49, 44,150 two-wheelers in the financial year (April 2021 – March 2022). The brand has announced several new launches including the new Destini 125 ‘XTEC’ and the Xpulse 200 4V.
Hero also strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of digitization and technology expert, Reema Jain as Chief Information and Digital Officer to lead the business transformation.
