“I live in Texas,” Walker said in January of this year, speaking to Republicans from the University of Georgia. Walker was criticizing Democrats for not visiting the border when he made the remarks. “Sometimes I go down to the border,” he said.
Earlier in the speech, Walker said he decided to run for the Georgia Senate seat while in his hometown of Texas after seeing the country divided. “Everybody asks me, why did I decide to run for a Senate seat? Because honestly, this is something I never thought I would do in my life,” Walker said. “And that is the honest truth. When I am sitting in my house in Texas, I am sitting in my house in Texas, and I am witnessing what is happening in this country. I’ve seen what’s going on in this country with the way they’re trying to divide people.”
A CNN KFile review of some of Walker’s media appearances and events between 2021 and 2022 found that Walker has appeared in Fox News and other conservative media from his Texas home. him at least four times after announcing his candidacy for the Georgia Senate seat. His Texas home interviews took place twice in September 2021 and in February and March 2022.
