RACE THREE – FINAL PROVINCIAL-INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONS
Kinloch was less popular among the Kris Lees athletes but finished best to take the top prize.
I Am Invincible gelding was $12 most of the week and again on race morning, however, rose to $17 after attracting only moderate support.
Most of the money goes to his peers Rustic Steel ($6-$5.50) and Never Talk ($3.90-$4) with the pair holding 52% of the total investment.
BET: Kinloch $1,000 e/w @ $16 / $4.40
RACE FOUR – FURPHY PERCY SYKES STAKES
The bookies TAB bought Paris Dior, however, which was a counterproductive move as she was too strong compared to her rivals in the Percy Sykes Stakes (1200 metres).
Out of Peter and Paul Snowden’s stable, Paris Dior ($2.30-$4) blew up but she fought hard to beat the money horse, Willinga Beast ($1-$5) in one ending sensational.
Paris Dior’s victory means that TAB has lost the race.
BET: Paris Dior $40,000 @ $3.80
RACE FIVE – THE ARROWFIELD 3YO SPRINT
There were only four people running around Arrowfield and it was a common result when Mazu got the cash.
Giving Team Snowden a doubles feature race, Mazu ($2.20 – $2.70) slipped slightly and lost the upper hand to In The Congo ($2.50), who circled around with a lot of money. slightly more than the winner.
Paulele ($3.50-$3.70) is the easiest compared to the others but in terms of holdings compared to the quinella pair, he holds almost 50% less than Mazu.
BET: Mazu $10,000 @ $2.70, $5,000 @ $2.70, $2,000 @ $2.70 MULTIPLE
RACE SIX – OAKS STAR AUSTRALIAN
El Patroness caused a boil in the Oaks at $26 on the Fixed Odds TAB.
Never really loved by TAB punters, El Patroness ($19-$26) has only slight backing and holds a fraction of what the more popular runners in Group One are. did.
Honeycreeper ($4 – $3.40- $4.40) was supported all week after opening at $6 but ran out of stock late while Gypsy Goddess ($4.60-$4) and Hinged ($ 3.80 fav) are two things they are late to. The latter overtook Honeycreeper for bias in the last five minutes of betting.
BET: El Patroness $1,000 e/w @ $26 / $6, $1,000 e/w @ $19 / $4
RACE SEVEN – SCHWEPPES SYDNEY CUP
Money for Knight’s Order was transferred shortly after it took the lead during the race for the Sydney Cup (3200 metres).
The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained galloper was $10 in the morning and rose to $8.50, attracting multiple investments each afternoon throughout the afternoon.
Stockman, the $5 morning favorite, hit $8 and became the most popular runner in terms of holdings.
Crystal Pegasus ($6.50) is solid for most of the day and is a favorite, holding more coins than anything other than Stockman.
Sheraz ($11) ran right to its support and it hovered around the $10-$11 mark most of the day.
BET: Order of the Knight $1,500 @ $9, $1,000 @ $9, $1,500 @ $8, $1,000 @ 8 TIMES
RACE EIGHT – LONGINES QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES
Think It Over ($34) was the least popular runner of the time – Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000 metres).
Stable star Kerry Parker holds just three percent more money than race favorite Verry Elleegant ($3 – $3.80-$3.60), who made a fortune on the bet, but is one of the most popular horses all day in terms of holdings.
Verry Elleegant held 42% of the total investment with the next best being Anamoe ($4.40-$4) but he held almost half of what she did.
BET: Verry Elleegant $22,500 @ $3.80
BET: Anamoe $10,000 @ $4, $5,000 @ $4 TWICE
RACE NINE – SYDNEY’S QUEEN OF TURF STORE
Nimalee does not have many admirers when entering the Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600 meters).
Matt Smith’s mare opened the day at $23 and rallied to $31 as it spiked, becoming one of the least popular runners in Group One.
Colette ($3.80-$3.20-$4) made a late bet but still won almost three times as much as the punter’s friend Icebath ($6-$5.50), in when Yonce ($7.50) was tried very well at the price per side.
BET: Colette $5,000 @ $4
