The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the brand’s second all-electric product since Kona electricity SUVs. This model, although located in the high-end segment, will be the new flagship product of the automaker. The edgy styled EV looks smart, quirky, and interesting from every angle, while the specs are equally impressive.

Powering the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be a 72.6 kWh battery pack with a range of 631 km (ARAI Certified) on a single charge. The EV has a single shaft-mounted electric motor that develops 214 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Hyundai claims the EV can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC charger. It also comes with Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS, Vehicle Loading function 2, six airbags, ABS with EBD, among other active and passive safety features.

It also has a host of features including a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a touchscreen infotainment system. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV will arrive in India as a Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) kit and that means the price will be more competitive compared to its sibling – KIA EV6 – was launched earlier this year as a CBU. Kia’s top model is priced from $59.95 lakh and $64.95 lakh and we can expect Ioniq 5 to start a little bit earlier $50 lakh (all price, old gallery). This makes the model compete with the MINI Cooper SE in the electric vehicle segment. Given the positive feedback the EV6 has received, Hyundai is confident that the Ioniq 5 will be another success story as the company’s electric mobility plans gain momentum in India.
