Ten minutes later, Richarlison controlled Vinicius Junior’s low pass, turned and unleashed a scissor kick that went straight into the bottom corner of the goal.
In Richarlison, Brazil found their performer.
Still, Serbia well deserved credit for their performance. For an hour, they held Brazil comfortably. Their attack threat is minimal but their discipline and motivation are commendable.
Brazil is said to be a strong candidate for this year’s World Cup. Their squad is packed with attacking threat and quality, with star forward Neymar eyeing a league that makes a legacy.
Serbia entered the World Cup for the third time as an independent nation after making its debut at the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
On Monday, Brazil takes on Switzerland and Serbia takes on Cameroon in the next series of Group G.
