German police say they have foiled a far-right plot to overthrow the government by force.
The German government has arrest 25 people after conducting raids on 130 locations across the country as part of a lengthy investigation.
Police said those arrested were ringleaders, including a 71-year-old prince, a retired senior military officer, a judge and a far-right former MP.
Prosecutors believe the group is planning attacks on parliament.
Europe in recent years has seen far-right parties make political gains – most notably in Italy, where they lead a coalition government led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
So what’s behind the political interests of the far right in Europe? And are these successes likely to stay?
