Expected to be one of the draw for the meeting at Moonee Valley, Queensland galloper James Uncommon was ruled out for the rest of the spring with a minor leg injury.
Coaches Steven O’Dea and Matthew Hoysted released a statement on Tuesday that the unpopular James presented with some minor fill in his proximal foot.
James unpopular due to galloping in Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning before running on the List Chautauqua Share (1200m) at that course on Saturday.
“Disappointingly, due to time we have made the decision, in the best interest of the horse, to stop now and send it off for a spell,” the statement read.
“This will allow us to focus on the Fall Carnival with him.”
Defeated once in six starts, the unpopular James made his Melbourne debut winning the List Regal Roller (1200m) at Caulfield on August 13.
This was followed by victory at Doomben on 9 July.
The unpopular James spent just over 12 months off the track after winning his third start at Eagle Farm in June 2021 with a complaint unrelated to his current problem.
