Johnny Depp took less money from Amber Heard in settlement because ‘He didn’t seek to ruin her’

Johnny Depp tried to make a point!

As Perezcious readers know, But the pirate of the Caribbean alum agree to settle with amber heard on Monday following a controversial defamation lawsuit. Under the settlement, his ex-wife had to pay just over $1 million compared to the more than $8 million he owed the court – but apparently, this was done for a very specific reason!

According to a new source close to the actor through EverybodyHis decision to accept less money was made to prove that he just “wants the truth” to be brought out in his lawsuit – he’s not in it for the money!

The source goes on to suggest that “part of the views of [Amber] attractive [the verdict] both financial reasons [and] to make sure there’s no verdict against her – that has significant ramifications. However, she won’t get exactly what she wants by doing the deal, the insider added:

“This judgment will never go away. He always says that he is not looking to destroy her. He said it’s not about the money, and it’s not! He just wanted the truth.”

Well, whether he intends to “destroy her” or not, he definitely did – which is ironic because that’s why Johnny fought in the first place. The couple’s legal battle began when Depp sued aquatic star for what she said in 2018 Washington Post op-ed about being a victim of domestic violence. Since the couple just got divorced last year Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the star claims it has affected his reputation despite the fact that he is not named in the work. A Virginia jury the majority sided with him, compensating him for damages of $10.35 million. He was also ordered to pay Amber $2 million for things his attorney said during the battle. Both sides filed an appeal last month, but they later changed course and decided to shelve the legal battle.

Notice her “very difficult decision” to deal with Instagram On Monday, the 36-year-old actress shared:

“After much consideration, I have made the very difficult decision to resolve the defamation lawsuit my ex-husband in Virginia sued me. It is important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was ruined. The detractors I face on social media are an amplified version of the way women fall victim as they come forward. Now, I finally have the chance to free myself from what I tried to give up over six years ago and on terms that I can agree to. I did not admit, this is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or jokes on my voice going forward.”

She is sure to make the media, haters, and the US legal system explode for allowing her to be at the center of it. Serious online bullying while she was trying to speak up for herself, she added:

“In the United States, however, I expended almost all of my resources before and during a trial where I faced a courtroom in which there was a great deal of direct, corroborating evidence. mine were excluded and where fame and power were more important than reason and due process. In the meantime, I was faced with a kind of humiliation that I simply couldn’t live with. Even if my US appeal is successful, the best outcome will be a retrial in which a new jury will have to review the evidence. I simply can’t go through that a third time.

Understandable! Especially since in Johnny’s camp statement of settlementthey still take every opportunity they can to throw the ball. Benjamin Chew and Camille Vasquez told Everybody:

“We are delighted to officially close this painful chapter for Mr. Depp, who has made clear throughout the process that his priority is to bring the truth to light.”

Referring to the amount, they note:

“The unanimous decision of the jury and the ruling in Mr Depp’s favor against Ms. Heard remain in full force and effect. The $1 million payment – which Mr. Depp is committing and will (actually) donate to charities — reinforces Mrs. Heard’s admission of the conclusions of the legal system’s rigorous pursuit of justice.”

Criticize!!

Pretty brutal! Take every picture they can get up to until the last minute! Thinking, readers Perezcious? Think Johnny was playing nice by agreeing to such a small deal, all things considered? Sound OFF (below)!
