Jump features get cash boost

Jumping car racing has received a bonus increase for the upcoming season

Racing Victoria has announced the 2023 jump racing season will have an additional $175,000 in prize money added to the 2022 season.

The bounty increase means that more than $1 million has been pumped into bounty increases over the past two seasons.

The annual big jump at Warrnambool in May and the national hurdle race at Ballarat in August will be the two richest long jump races for the 2023 season, each bringing in $400,000 in prize money. .

There will be 19 meetings across Victoria in 2023 where the diving races will get underway, starting at Terang on March 27 and culminating in the Grand National obstacle course. at Ballarat on August 27.

RV Jumps Racing Director Josh Grimwood said diving racing is a unique feature of the Victorian racing calendar while the enhanced prize money recognizes the strength of the diving industry.

Grimwood said: “The 2022 jump race was one of the safest seasons ever held, it had a strong interaction with increased betting revenue and saw a record number of spectators. Attending the Warrnambool Carnival in May is very precious,” said Grimwood.

“The priority of all Victorian diving participants continues to be the safety of the sport and it is important that we have seen continuous improvement through these initiatives. ​Ongoing safety and strong regulatory framework.

“I would like to thank AJRA (Australian Diving Racing Association) and participating clubs for their participation and support in building the program and look forward to another great diving season next year. 2023.”
